A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect until midni ght early Tuesday morning for extreme northeastern Iowa, and west-central, southwestern, and south-central Wisconsin. In Iowa, this includes the county of ALLAMAKEE. In Wisconsin, this includes the counties of MONROE, JUNEAU, ADAMS, MARQUETTE, GREEN LAKE, VERNON, RICHLAND, SAUK, COLUMBIA, CRAWFORD, IOWA, DANE, GRANT, LAFAYETTE, and GREEN (this includes the La Crosse and Madison metropolitan areas).

The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for tonight for the southern half of Minnesota, all of Iowa, all but far northeastern Illinois, and west-central, southwestern, and south-central Wisconsin (south and west of a Twin Cities to Wausau to Beloit line). A cold front will move southward through Minnesota and Wisconsin tonight and into Illinois by early Tuesday morning. A warm and somewhat humid air mass along and ahead of the front will support thunderstorms, a few of which ! may be severe. Hail and high winds are the main threats, with the potential for locally heavy rainfall in areas affected by several thunderstorms. There is a threat for isolated tornadoes, mainly where thunderstorms remain separated before forming a line later tonight; the tornado threat appears to be highest in southern Minnesota. The severe weather threat will diminish overnight as the overnight air cools down, and will end with the passage of the cold front overnight.
