A stationary front is forecast to remain south of southern Wisconsin tonight through Saturday, but will still be close enough for a threat of a few showers and thunderstorms. Skies will become partly cloudy tonight and it will remain very mild and muggy with low temperatures falling to around 70 degrees.

Friday and Saturday will be partly sunny, very warm, and humid with high temperatures in the upper 80s. The stationary front to our south will still be close enough to give us at least a chance for a shower or thunderstorm. heat Index values will be in the 90s during the afternoon.

The weather for Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will be partly sunny, hot and humid with just slight chances for showers and thunderstorms, mainly due to the high humidity. Highs will be in the lower 90s with afternoon heat index values around 100 degrees. The best chances each day for rain will be late in the afternoon into the evening hours.

A cold front will mov! e through the area on Tuesday night and Wednesday, leading to higher chances of showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday night. Highs will drop back a little to the lower 80s on Wednesday, while the humidity remains high.

NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for tonight for the southern third of Minnesota, the northern three-quarters of Iowa, the northern third of Illinois, and the southwestern third of Wisconsin (south and west of a Twin Cities to Stevens Point to Sheboygan line). A stationary front from southwestern Minnesota into northern Illinois divides hot and very humid air to its south from warm and humid air to its north. Thunderstorms from th! is morning have cooled the air a bit north of the front, but skies hav e cleared this afternoon over Iowa and southern Minnesota. Additional thunderstorms may form later tonight in southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, and these would travel to the southeast along the stationary front into Wisconsin and Illinois. However, warm temperatures aloft may suppress thunderstorm development later tonight, so it is not a certainty that more thunderstorms may develop. There is a possibility that if thunderstorms develop, a few may become severe with high winds, heavy rain, and some hail as the main threats. Repeated heavy rain could lead to localized flooding in a few areas.
