A strong low pressure system will move through the Midwest tonight with scattered showers and thunderstorms affecting southern Wisconsin. Temperatures will fall into the lower 60s by late evening. As a cold front sweeps across southern Wisconsin later tonight, winds will switch to the west and increase in speeds as temperatures fall to the lower to middle 50s by morning.
Behind the cold front, temperatures will continue to fall during the day on Friday. Skies will be mostly cloudy and it will be windy with showers ending early, before possibly redeveloping late in the day. High temperatures will reach the middle 50s early in the day, but temperatures will slowly fall, reaching the middle 40s by late afternoon. Temperatures will become quite chilly Friday night, allowing for a few flurries to mix with the showers late, especially north of Madison.
The low will then continue to head northeast, leading to a chilly weekend. Saturday will ! be breezy and very chilly with rain and flurries ending. Highs will only reach the middle to upper 40s. While skies may turn partly sunny later Saturday afternoon, partly cloudy skies Saturday night may lead to some frost by Sunday morning as temperatures fall into the middle 30s. Sunday will be increasingly cloudy and continued chilly with a chance for afternoon showers. Highs will reach the lower 50s.
There will be another chance for rain showers on Monday afternoon with high temperatures in the lower 50s. Partly sunny skies will return for Tuesday and Wednesday with high temperatures reaching the middle 50s Tuesday, climbing to the lower 60s on Wednesday.
Milder air will move in near the end of the week ahead of the next storm system. Rain showers will develop later Thursday through Friday with high temperatures around 70 degrees. A few thunderstorms are possible on Friday.
