Southern Wisconsin weather

A powerful area of low pressure is heading toward Wisconsin. The center of the low is expected to track across the southern part of the state, which will put the northern part of the state in an area favorable for heavy snow. Southern Wisconsin will remain mostly dry this evening. A chance for rain and snow showers will develop, mainly northwest of Madison by early Tuesday. Temperatures will fall into the middle 30s by early Tuesday. As colder air invades the region Tuesday, rain and mixed precipitation will change to light snow or flurries. Minor snow accumulations up to 2" are possible, mainly for areas northwest of Madison. Highs will reach the upper 30s early Tuesday, before temperatures fall into the lower 30s in the afternoon.

An extended period of unseasonably cold weather will settle in from Wednesday through next week. Skies will be partly sunny on Wednesday with highs reaching the upper 20s. Thursday will be variably cloudy and breezy w! ith some flurries; highs will remain in the upper 20s. High pressure will move into southern Wisconsin Friday with mostly sunny skies and highs near 30 degrees. Low temperatures will be in the teens Wednesday through Friday mornings.

The weekend will bring continued chilly temperatures with highs in the upper 20s to the lower 30s and overnight lows in the teens to around 20 degrees. A wave of low pressure will bring a chance for snow to southern Wisconsin from late Saturday through Sunday morning. Another wave will move through the region Monday with some snow showers and highs only in the middle 20s.

Mostly cloudy, windy, and colder with rain and snow showers changing to light snow and flurries; m! inor accumulations of up to 2" are possible, mainly northwest of Madis on.
High: 37; temperatures nearly steady/slowly falling to the lower 30s in the afternoon

Mostly cloudy, breezy, and much colder with flurries ending, then becoming partly cloudy.

Variable cloudiness, breezy, and continued unseasonably cold with a chance for flurries.

Mostly sunny and continued unseasonably cold.
