A weak storm system will affect southern Wisconsin from this evening through tonight. Snow showers will be moving through, leaving 1-2" of snow in their wake with some amounts up to 3" possible to the west. Lows will be near 20. Mostly cloudy skies and scattered flurries will linger into Sunday. It will remain cold with high temperatures near 30, well below normal high temperatures in the middle 40s.
A reinforcing shot of cold air will arrive on Monday, with mostly cloudy skies, brisk northerly winds, scattered flurries, and even colder high temperatures near 20. Wind chills will dip below zero Monday morning through at least Tuesday morning with low temperatures falling into the single digits and lower teens. (The record low temperature for Madison for next Tuesday is 3 degrees set back in 1872.) Tuesday will be partly sunny, windy, and very cold as well with a chance for flurries; high temperatures will only reach the lower 20s.
There wil! l be another slight chance of snow showers Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, but Wednesday's highs will be back into the upper 20s. Thursday and Friday will be partly sunny and slightly warmer, but still well below average for mid November with highs near 30 or slightly above.
Temperatures will be closer to normal for next weekend. Clouds will increase on Saturday with a slight chance of rain and snow showers late with a continued chance of rain showers on Sunday, with high temperatures reaching the upper 30s on Saturday and lower 40s on Sunday.
