Unseasonably cold weather will continue through Friday. Tonight will be mostly cloudy and quite cold. Scattered flurries are possible this evening as temperatures fall to around 10 degrees by late evening. Overnight, snow showers will develop as temperatures hold nearly steady or slowly rise through the teens.

On Wednesday, skies will be mostly cloudy, and it will be breezy and not quite as cold. Snow showers will taper to flurries early with up to an inch of snow accumulations possible. High temperatures will reach the lower to middle 20s.

Flurries will end and skies will turn partly cloudy Wednesday night. Low temperatures will fall to the middle single digits by morning, very close to the record low of 5 degrees set in 1914. Thursday will be partly sunny, breezy, and very cold with high temperatures reaching the upper teens, slightly above the record coldest high temperature of 15 set in 1872. Wind chills could be as cold as -1! 0 degrees on Thursday morning. After another very cold morning on Friday with low temperatures in the middle single digits, winds will shift to the south and a warm up will begin. Skies will be partly sunny Friday with highs in the middle 20s.

As an area of low pressure moves into Wisconsin on Friday night, skies will become mostly cloudy, and it will be breezy and milder. Light snow, sleet, and freezing rain will develop later Friday night and should change to drizzle or light rain on Saturday as temperatures warm into the lower 40s. Mild air will continue on Sunday with occasional light rain. Highs will reach the middle 40s. 

Colder air will move into Wisconsin on the back side of the departing low pressure system on Monday, with rain mixing with and then changing to snow showers. Temperatures will top out near 40 early Monday, falling through the 30s during the day. Some light snow accumulation is possible Monday night. 

Tuesday will be variably cl! oudy, breezy, and colder with a chance for flurries. High temperatures will reach the lower 30s.

Low: 10 in the evening, then temperatures nearly steady/slowly rising after midnight

WEDNESDAY:
Mostly cloudy, breezy, and not quite as cold with snow showers tapering to flurries early; accumulations of around an inch are possible.
High: 23
Wind: W/NW 10-20 MPH

WEDNESDAY NIGHT:
Becoming partly cloudy and very cold.
Low: 6 (Record low for Madison is 5 set in 1914)
Wind: W/NW 8-15 MPH; Wind Chills: 0 to -10 by morning

THURSDAY:
Partly sunny, breezy, and very cold.
High: 19 (Record coldest high is 15 set in 1872)
Wind: W/NW 10-20 MPH; ! Wind Chills: +5 to -5 during the morning

FRIDAY:
Partly sunny and not quite as cold (becoming mostly cloudy, breezy, and milder at night with light snow, sleet, and freezing rain developing, mainly after midnight).
Low: 4
High: 26

SATURDAY:
Mostly cloudy, breezy, and milder with mixed precipitation changing to drizzle or light rain showers (occasional rain developing late at night).
Low: 25
High: 42

SUNDAY:
Mostly cloudy, breezy, and mild with occasional light rain.
Low: 40
High: 45

MONDAY:
Mostly cloudy, windy, and turning colder with rain showers mixing with and changing to snow showers (some minor snow accumulation is possible Monday night).

High: 40; temperatures steady/slowly falling through ! the 30s during the day

Variable cloudiness, breezy, and cold with a chance for flurries.
