Tonight will be mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers as a cold front approaches from the west. Temperatures will only fall to the upper 30s by late evening. Once the front passes late tonight, the showers may mix with flurries by early Saturday morning as colder air moves across the region and low temperatures fall to the middle 30s by morning.
Any light rain or flurries will come to an end early Saturday morning, with skies becoming partly sunny by afternoon. Saturday will be windy and cold with high temperatures in the upper 30s. Another weather system may move through later Saturday night into early Sunday that will start as light snow, then mix with rain before ending. Otherwise, Sunday will be mostly cloudy and chilly with high temperatures in the lower 40s.
A more powerful storm system will be affecting Wisconsin later Sunday night into early next week. The storm will move along a stationary front that will be positioned i! n or near southern Wisconsin. This has the potential to produce some snowfall for the area from Monday night into Tuesday, but its placement is very uncertain at this point. On Monday, light rain and snow will develop, but should change to mainly rain from Madison southward as high temperatures climb to near 40 degrees. Light rain or rain mixed with snow will eventually change to all snow on Monday night, with light accumulations possible. Any light snow and flurries will end Tuesday morning, followed by skies becoming partly sunny in the afternoon. However, it will be windy with and colder with high temperatures reaching the lower 30s on Tuesday morning, then holding steady or slowly falling into the 20s by afternoon.
An extended period of unseasonably cold weather will settle in from Wednesday into next weekend. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny Wednesday through Friday with highs near 30 and lows in the lower teens. High temperatures will climb into the middle t! o upper 30s for next weekend.
