Skies will be cloudy with fog developing tonight; there's a chance for flurries, drizzle, or some patchy freezing drizzle when temperatures fall below freezing. Temperatures will hold nearly steady near 30 degrees this evening; overnight low temperatures will fall to the upper 20s. Sunday will be mostly cloudy and breezy with areas of fog; flurries and freezing drizzle with change to drizzle as high temperatures reach the upper 30s.
A storm system will develop across the Midwest from Monday into Tuesday and Christmas Eve Wednesday. Monday will be cloudy and breezy with occasional light rain. High temperatures will reach the upper 30s. Tuesday will be cloudy with rain showers, possibly mixed at times with snow. High temperatures will be in the upper 30s.
As a low pressure system over Wisconsin moves to the east it will merge with another low pressure system moving up from the Gulf Coast, which will cause the merged system to stall to ou! r northeast as it intensifies. That will result in cloudy and windy conditions to develop from Tuesday night into Christmas Eve. Precipitation will change to snow on Tuesday night, with occasional snow continuing into Christmas Eve Wednesday; there could be several inches of snow accumulation from Tuesday night into Christmas Eve. High temperatures will drop back to the lower 30s. On Christmas Day, lingering flurries will end early and skies will turn partly sunny as the storm moves away into Canada. High temperatures will be in the lower 30s.
Light snow should redevelop on Friday as another system moves through the area. The snow may be mixed with rain near the Illinois state line. It will be mostly cloudy and breezy with high temperatures in the lower 30s.
After that system passes, next weekend will be quiet with seasonably cold temperatures. Skies will be partly sunny for both Saturday and Sunday; Saturday will be breezy as well. High temperatures will b! e in the lower to middle 20s on Saturday, and in the middle to upper 2 0s on Sunday.
Continue to monitor the latest forecast if you have travel plans next week, especially if travelling through Wisconsin or areas to the east and southeast from Tuesday night into Christmas Eve.
