Today will be mostly sunny, windy, and very cold with high temperatures in the middle to upper teens. New Year's Eve night will become partly cloudy with temperatures falling to near 10 degrees by midnight. Winds will remain breezy this evening. After midnight, temperatures will hold steady or slowly rise, and winds will gradually decrease. Skies on New Year's Day Thursday will become increasingly cloudy with a chance for flurries in the afternoon and evening. It will not be as cold with high temperatures reaching the upper 20s. Friday will be partly sunny and just a little colder with high temperatures in the middle 20s.

A storm system will develop in the southern Plains on Friday, and head northeastward toward the Midwest for the weekend. Skies will become mostly cloudy on Saturday with light snow developing in the afternoon. It will become breezy with high temperatures reaching the upper 20s. Some snow accumulation is possible for Saturday nig! ht. The storm will head east on Sunday, with windy and much colder weather following in its wake. Snow will taper to flurries early in the day and come to an end. Skies may become partly sunny Sunday afternoon. High temperatures will reach the lower teens early, but temperatures will fall into the single digits during the day. As skies clear Sunday night, bitterly cold air arrives with low temperatures falling into the single digits below zero, and wind chills falling to perhaps as cold as -25 by Monday morning.

Monday will be partly sunny and very cold. High temperatures will be in the upper single digits. Skies will become mostly cloudy on Monday night with a chance for snow. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy and very cold with a continued chance for snow. High temperatures will be in the middle teens.
