Skies will be mostly cloudy this afternoon, especially north of Madison as temperatures reach highs near 30. Skies will become partly cloudy overnight with lows in the upper teens. Friday will be partly sunny and a little milder with high temperatures reaching the middle 30s.
Skies will be variably cloudy on Saturday with high temperatures in the lower to middle 30s. On Sunday, southerly winds will bring some moisture into the Midwest. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a chance for drizzle or flurries by afternoon; high temperatures will reach the middle 30s. As temperatures drop below freezing at night, flurries will continue.
A complex storm system will take shape across the Midwest from Monday into Tuesday and Christmas Eve Wednesday. On Monday, it will be mostly cloudy and breezy with snow showers, possibly mixed with rain at times in the afternoon. High temperatures will reach the middle 30s. Tuesday will be cloudy and breezy with scat! tered snow showers and high temperatures reaching the lower to middle 30s. Some accumulation is possible. As that low pressure system moves to the east it will merge with another system moving up the Atlantic coast, which will cause the merged system to stall over the northeast and intensify. That will result in more cloudy and breezy conditions for Christmas Eve with scattered snow showers and possible accumulation. Highs will be near 30.
Christmas day will be mostly cloudy and windy with only a few lingering flurries. High temperatures will remain near 30. There is a chance for snow to redevelop on Friday as another system swings by to our south and highs drop into the mid 20s.
