Skies will be cloudy this evening with a chance of light rain, sleet and snow SE of Madison and temperatures near 30. Snow showers will develop after midnight with 1-3" likely across the area and conditions becoming windy by morning.

The storm will head east on Sunday, with windy and much colder weather following in its wake. Snow will taper to flurries and some clearing is possible by afternoon. High temperatures will be in the upper teens early in the day, but temperatures will steadily fall into the single digits during the day.

Bitterly cold air will arrive Sunday night with skies becoming mostly clear and low temperatures falling near -10, with wind chills dropping to as low as -30 by early Monday morning. Clouds will be increasing again on Monday as another quick hitting snow system approaches the area and it will remain bitterly cold with highs in the mid single digits.

That system will move through Monday night into early! Tuesday and drop 3-5" of snow across the area. Lows will stay near zero, and highs Tuesday will only reach the upper single digits. Strong winds will return after the system passes and the coldest air of the season may arrive Tuesday night. Temperatures will nosedive to around -15, with wind chills as cold as -40 by early Wednesday morning. Wednesday will be mostly sunny, but still windy and bitterly cold with high temperatures struggling to reach zero and wind chills as cold as -25 even during the afternoon.

Thursday will be partly sunny, breezy and cold with highs near 10. Friday will be partly sunny and not quite as cold with highs in the middle teens. Another chance of snow showers will develop Saturday with highs topping out near 20, and by Sunday partly sunny skies return with highs closer to average in the mid 20s.
