Tonight will be mostly cloudy and not as bitter cold. Snow will overspread southern Wisconsin as a fast-moving storm system slides to our southwest. 1-4" of snow accumulation is likely by morning. The heaviest amounts will be over far southwestern Wisconsin, and the lightest amounts northeast of Madison. Low temperatures will fall to around zero, with wind chills of -5 to -15.
Skies will become partly sunny on Tuesday, but temperatures and wind chills will remain very cold. Highs will be near 10 degrees, but winds will increase with wind chills remaining below zero. Some blowing and drifting snow is possible in the afternoon due to the expected fluffy nature of the snow.
The coldest air of the season will arrive Tuesday through Wednesday nights. Low temperatures will crash to around -10 by Wednesday morning, with dangerously cold wind chills as low as -35 a possibility. Wednesday will be mostly sunny, but still windy and bitterly cold! with high temperatures staying below zero and wind chills as cold as -30 even during the afternoon. Wednesday night will again be dangerously cold with low temperatures in the middle teens below zero and wind chills as cold as -40.
Thursday will become mostly cloudy and windy with a chance for snow showers or flurries, mainly during the afternoon. High temperatures on Thursday afternoon will be in the upper single digits, but wind chills will range from -5 to -20. Friday will be partly sunny, windy, and bitter cold again with morning low temperatures around -5 and wind chills from -20 to -30; afternoon high temperatures will only reach the middle single digits.
Saturday will be partly sunny and bitter cold again with a slight chance for flurries at night. Low temperatures will be near -10 with wind chills from -15 to -25. High temperatures will only reach the upper single digits. Sunday and Monday look rather quiet with partly sunny skies and highs reachi! ng the middle to upper teens.
