Posted On Feb 25 2015 04:39:37 PM CST

It will be mostly cloudy and very cold tonight with light snow tapering to flurries. Total snow accumulations of 1-2" are likely, with the higher amounts in areas southwest of Madison. Temperatures will fall to around 10 degrees by late evening; overnight low temperatures will drop to near zero with wind chills as cold as -10 to -20 by morning.

Thursday will be variably cloudy and very cold with a slight chance for flurries. High temperatures will only top out around 10 degrees, with wind chills staying at or below zero for most of the day. Friday will be mostly sunny and continued cold. High temperatures will reach the middle teens. We'll have one more bitterly cold night for Friday night with low temperatures falling to near 5 below zero, but with light winds, w! ind chills should not be a factor.

Temperatures should moderate somewhat this weekend. Saturday will be partly sunny and not quite as cold with high temperatures in the lower 20s. Low pressure will develop in the southern Plains on Saturday and move toward the Midwest, bringing light snow or flurries to southern Wisconsin from late Saturday night through Sunday. Sunday will be mostly cloudy with high temperatures in the upper 20s. Some minor accumulations are possible.

Monday will be partly sunny with high temperatures in the upper 20s. Another low pressure system will move into the area from late Monday night, continuing through on Tuesday. This has the potential to bring accumulating snow, along with a possibility for some sleet or freezing rain as high temperatures climb to near 30 degrees.

After the storm system passes, it will be variably cloudy, breezy, and colder Wednesday with high temperatures in the lower 20s.
