Today will start with sunshine, but it will won't last long. Skies will turn mostly cloudy and it will become breezy with light snow, possibly mixed with sleet or freezing rain developing late this afternoon. High temperatures will be in the upper 20s. Light snow, possibly mixed with sleet and freezing rain will continue tonight with some light accumulation possible by Wednesday morning. Highest amounts up to 2" will be possible north and west of Madison. Wednesday will be mostly cloudy with flurries and freezing drizzle ending. High temperatures will top out in the upper 20s in the morning, but it will become windy and colder in the afternoon with temperatures falling through the 20s.
As skies turn partly cloudy on Wednesday night, temperatures will fall into the middle single digits. Brisk winds will cause wind chills to be as cold as -5 to -20 by early Thursday morning. Thursday will be partly sunny, windy, and much colder with high tempe! ratures only reaching the lower teens. Thursday night will be very cold, with low temperatures near zero. Friday will be variably cloudy with a chance for flurries; high temperatures will reach the upper teens.
Another shot of very cold weather arrives early in the weekend. As a cold front sweeps through southern Wisconsin on Saturday morning, skies will be variably cloudy, and it will turn windy, and very cold with high temperatures only in the upper single digits Saturday, before temperatures hold steady or slowly fall through the single digits during the day. Skies will become mostly clear on Saturday night and winds will become light, but temperatures will turn bitter cold, falling to the middle single digits below zero by early Sunday morning. Skies on Sunday will become increasingly cloudy with a chance for flurries late in the day or at night; high temperatures will be in the middle teens.
A stronger storm system may affect Wisconsin from late Monday! into Tuesday of next week. Partly sunny skies on Monday morning will become increasingly cloudy in the afternoon with light snow developing late in the day or at night. High temperatures will reach the middle 20s.
