This afternoon will be mostly sunny, but bitterly cold. High temperatures will only climb to the lower single digits above zero, but wind chills will remain from -5 to -20 through the day. Temperatures will fall to near -10 again tonight with wind chills from -15 to -25 by morning.
Skies will be mostly cloudy Friday with light snow developing; accumulations of an inch or two are possible by evening with the highest amounts north of Madison. High temperatures will reach the middle to upper teens. Temperatures will hold steady in the middle teens or slowly rise overnight with a continued chance of flurries.
Saturday will be mostly cloudy and not as cold with a chance of light snow or flurries as a low pressure system moves by to the south. Saturday will be the warmest day of the week with high temperatures reaching the middle to upper 20s. By Sunday, arctic air will flood back into the area. It will be partly sunny, windy, and much colder with h! ighs reaching the middle teens Sunday morning before temperatures slowly fall into the single digits in the afternoon. Wind chills will dip below zero Sunday afternoon. Skies will become mostly clear on Sunday night as bitterly cold air returns. Low temperatures will fall to around -7, with wind chills falling to -10 to -20 by early Monday morning.
Monday will be mostly sunny and very cold with high temperatures reaching the middle teens. It will become mostly cloudy and windy on Monday night as a storm system approaches from the west, causing temperatures to hold steady or slowly rise overnight. It will be mostly cloudy and windy with a chance of light snow and flurries and high temperatures in the lower 20s on Tuesday.
Skies will clear and it will become bitterly cold again on Tuesday night, with low temperatures falling below zero and wind chills dropping to as cold as -10 to -20. Wednesday will be partly sunny, breezy and bitterly cold again with highs ! near 10 and wind chills below zero. Thursday will be partly sunny and bitterly cold as well with lows below zero and highs near 10. Friday will be mostly sunny and not quite as cold with highs in the upper teens.
