Clear skies this morning gradually turning mostly cloudy by tonight. Temperatures will start in the lower teens and climb to highs in the upper 20s this afternoon.
A strong area of low pressure will develop to our southwest, and move through southern Wisconsin on Tuesday. Skies will turn mostly cloudy tonight, and light snow will develop overnight. Your Tuesday morning commute may be slick with around an inch of fresh snow already on the ground. Another 1-3" inches on snow will accumulate during the day on Tuesday, bringing storm totals to 2-4" for most locations. The highest snow totals will be in the north, and the lightest totals will be along the Wisconsin/Illinois state line. The snow may mix with sleet and freezing rain Tuesday morning, before changing back to light snow or flurries Tuesday afternoon. Highs on Tuesday will reach the lower to middle 30s. A cold front will sweep through Wisconsin Tuesday afternoon, causing temperatures to fal! l again Tuesday night.
Much colder air will continue to sweep through Wisconsin on Wednesday. Skies will be variably cloudy, and it will be windy and much colder with a slight chance for flurries. High temperatures will only reach the lower teens. Skies will turn mostly clear and it will become bitterly cold on Wednesday night, with low temperatures falling to the middle single digits below zero and wind chills dropping to -10 to -20. Thursday will be partly sunny and unseasonably cold again with high temperatures only reaching the middle teens.
Temperatures will moderate quickly on Friday, with partly sunny skies and breezy southwesterly winds pushing high temperatures back into the lower to middle 30s.
We should actually see near-normal temperatures for next weekend. Skies will be partly sunny on Saturday with high temperatures reaching the middle 30s. A weak wave of low pressure will move through on Saturday night, causing mostly cloudy skies ! and breezy winds along with a few flurries. Sunday will be partly sunn y and pleasant with high temperatures reaching the upper 30s.
