A nearly stationary frontal boundary will lift to the north as a warm front today, along with an associated low pressure system. This storm system will track across southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will move through the area early this morning.  Areas of fog may also develop.

A second round of thunderstorms will move through the area this afternoon and evening. Some storms could be severe during that period with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats, but isolated tornadoes will be possible as well. If the center of low pressure tracks farther north and some sunshine develops between the two rounds of precipitation today, severe weather chances will increase for the day. If the center of the low pressure system takes a slightly more southward track, we will see more clouds across southern Wisconsin and lower chances for severe weather. High temperatures will range from the upper 50s to the north to the middle to upper 60s along the Wisconsin/Illinois border.

The weather looks quiet for the end of the work week and for the start of the weekend. Skies will become partly sunny on Friday with cooler temperatures in the lower to middle 50s.  A few afternoon showers may develop on Friday.  Saturday will be mostly sunny and pleasant with highs near 60 degrees. A chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop later on Sunday with breezy winds and highs in the middle 60s.

The next work week will begin with partly sunny skies on Monday and Tuesday with mild temperatures in the middle to upper 60s.  Chances for rain return on Wednesday with highs in the upper 60s.
