A nearly stationary frontal boundary will lift to the north as a warm front today, along with an associated low pressure system. This storm system will track across southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, and bring another round of thunderstorms through the area this afternoon and evening. Some storms could be severe during that period with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats, but isolated tornadoes will be possible as well. If the center of low pressure tracks farther north and some sunshine develops between the two rounds of precipitation today, severe weather chances will increase for the day. If the center of the low pressure system takes a slightly more southward track, we will see more clouds across southern Wisconsin and lower chances for severe weather. High temperatures will range from the upper 50s to the north to the upper 60s along the Wisconsin/Illinois border.

As a cold front sweeps through the area tonight, showers and thunderstorms will still be possible, but the severe threat will end. Skies will then become partly sunny on Friday with a slight chance of isolated showers, mainly in the afternoon. It will be cooler with highs dropping back into the lower to middle 50s.

This weekend will be mild again. Saturday will be mostly sunny and pleasant with highs in the lower 60s. Clouds will increase on Sunday and it will be breezy with highs in the middle to upper 60s and showers and thunderstorms developing late in the day and continuing overnight.

Next week looks very mild. It will be mostly sunny on Monday with highs in the mid 60s. Tuesday will be partly sunny and warm with highs near 70. Another low pressure system will slowly move through the Midwest for the rest of the week, bringing chances of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday through Friday, but we will be on the warm side of it, keeping highs near 70 for Wednesday and Thursday.
