NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a MARGINAL RISK for severe thunderstorms on Saturday and Saturday night across eastern Iowa, the northern two-thirds of Illinois, and all but far northeastern Wisconsin (the severe weather threat area is south and west of a Hurley to Green Bay to Manitowoc line). There is a SLIGHT RISK for severe thunderstorms across much of Minnesota and Iowa. A warm front will move northward through the central Midwest on Saturday. Warm and somewhat humid air will flow northward with the front. Scattered thunderstorms will develop near the warm front, and isolated thunderstorms may become severe, with hail and high winds being the main threats.
There is a threat for severe weather on Sunday for eastern Minnesota, the eastern half of Iowa, the northwestern two-thirds of Illinois, and all of Wisconsin. A low pressure system in the central Plains will approach the central Midwest on Sunday. Mild to warm and moderately humid air flowing into the Midwest interacting with a cold front, or ongoing thunderstorms ahead of the cold front, may lead to severe thunderstorm development. Strong wind fields may also lead to severe thunderstorms. High winds and hail are the main threats, although isolated tornadoes may be possible. Strong to severe thunderstorms should end Sunday night. The severe weather threat may be lower if widespread cloud cover and precipitation from thunderstorms on Saturday night and Sunday morning keep severe thunderstorms from developing on Sunday afternoon.
