NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is an ENHANCED RISK for severe thunderstorms for tonight for the southeastern third of Iowa and the northern third of Illinois. There is a SLIGHT RISK for severe thunderstorms over far southeastern Minnesota, the rest of the southeastern half of Iowa, the rest of the northern two-thirds of Illinois, and all of Wisconsin. There is a MARGINAL RISK for severe thunderstorms over the rest of the eastern three-quarters of Minnesota, most of the rest of Iowa, and the rest of Illinois.

Another round of severe weather is possible through this evening over the central Midwest. After this morning's thunderstorms, returning sunshine is warming temperatures into the 80s with dew points in the lower 70s. This will create a very unstable atmosphere ahead of a cold front which will move from Minnesota into Wisconsin by this evening, and into Illinois later tonight. In addition, the outflow boundary from this morning's thunderstorms lies across eastern Iowa and northern Illinois. Strong wind shear could lead to the development of supercell thunderstorms along the outflow boundary and cold front, developing into a squall line later tonight. High winds, hail, heavy rain, and a few tornadoes could develop with these thunderstorms, with widespread wind damage possible over parts of northern Illinois once a squall line develops. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front tonight.
