Thunderstorms will redevelop into the early evening, and will once again have the potential to be severe. These showers and thunderstorms will move out of the area by late evening and the rest of the night will be partly cloudy, mild and muggy with lows in the upper 60s.

On Tuesday, another weak cold front will move through Wisconsin. Expect variably cloudy skies, warm and humid conditions, with a chance for showers and thunderstorms again. High temperatures will be in the lower 80s. Skies will clear out Tuesday night and humidity levels will decrease a little. Areas of fog are possible by morning.

Wednesday will be partly sunny, not quite as warm, and a little less humid with high temperatures near 80. On Thursday, another low pressure system will develop to our west leading to variably cloudy skies and scattered showers and thunderstorms developing. High temperatures will be in the lower 80s, and humidity levels will increase again. Friday will be partly sunny, very warm, and humid with just a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s, with heat index readings in the lower to middle 90s.

Hot and humid weather will continue into next weekend. Saturday and Sunday will both be partly sunny, hot, and humid with a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms; high temperatures will be in the lower 90s, with heat index values in the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. Monday will be variably cloudy, very warm and humid with scattered showers and thunderstorms and highs in the upper 80s.

NOTES:

A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect until 9 PM for all of southern Wisconsin, including GRANT, RICHLAND, CRAWFORD, VERNON, JUNEAU, ADAMS, SAUK, IOWA, LAFAYETTE, DANE, GREEN, ROCK, JEFFERSON, COLUMBIA, DODGE, WALWORTH, MARQUETTE AND GREEN LAKE counties.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect until 1 AM early Tuesday morning for north-central and northeastern Illinois, including the counties of WINNEBAGO, BOONE, and McHENRY (this includes the Rockford and Chicago metropolitan areas).

The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a MODERATE RISK for widespread severe thunderstorms, along with some intense severe thunderstorms for Monday and Monday night over much of central and southeastern Illinois. There is an ENHANCED RISK for a few severe thunderstorms along with isolated intense severe thunderstorms for the southeastern quarter of Iowa, and the most of the rest of Illinois (except for the far southwest). There is a SLIGHT RISK for a few severe thunderstorms over far southeastern Minnesota, the rest of the eastern third of Iowa, and the southern half of Wisconsin (south of a Rochester, MN to Wausau to Green Bay line). There is a MARGINAL RISK for isolated severe thunderstorms for central, east-central, and southeastern Minnesota, the rest of the southeastern two-thirds of Iowa, and the rest of Wisconsin.

A weak cold front will move southeastward through Wisconsin into northern Illinois by this evening. In addition, an outflow boundary from this morning's thunderstorms extends from eastern Iowa into central Illinois, and is forecast to move northeastward into southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. With very warm to hot and very humid conditions, an extremely unstable atmosphere will be in place across the central Midwest. Scattered severe thunderstorms will develop along the cold front and the outflow boundary, heading southeastward into much of Illinois by evening.

Tornadoes, high winds, hail, and heavy rainfall are all threats with the afternoon and evening thunderstorms, although the coverage will be spotty, and some areas may not see any rain at all. In addition, an isolated strong tornado is possible, with the highest threat area being along the outflow boundary, most likely in northern Illinois. Eventually, an intense cluster or line of severe thunderstorms should form, resulting in widespread damaging winds as the storms move southeastward through much of Illinois. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front this evening.
