Showers and thunderstorms moving through southern Wisconsin should end by mid-morning. A few severe thunderstorm are possible, mainly for areas near and north of Madison, with high winds, hail, and heavy rainfall being the main threats. Skies will then turn partly sunny by this afternoon, and it will turn hot and humid with high temperatures in the lower 90s; heat index readings could climb to over 100 degrees at times. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may redevelop lin the afternoon as a cold front approaches from the northwest, and a few of these thunderstorms may be severe.

Tonight; will be variably cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the evening ahead of the cold front; there still may be the threat for a few severe thunderstorms early in the evening. Areas of fog may form overnight. Temperatures will fall to the upper 70s by late evening; overnight low temperatures will fall to around 70 degrees by morning.

On Sunday, skies will become partly sunny behind the cold front. It still will be warm, but will turn less humid. High temperatures will be in the middle 80s.

Monday will be partly sunny, very warm with high temperatures in the middle to upper 80s. Another weak cold front will move through on Monday night that could generate a couple of showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, Tuesday will be partly sunny and very warm with high temperatures in the middle to upper 80s.

Wednesday will be partly sunny and continued very warm with high temperatures in the middle 80s again.

The end of the week will be more humid as a warm front moves through Wisconsin, Thursday will be variably cloudy, very warm and more humid with a chance for showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the middle 80s with heat index values in the low 90s. After the front passes, Friday will be partly sunny, hot and humid with high temperatures in the lower 90s and heat index values in the middle to upper 90s.

For next weekend, Saturday will also be partly sunny, hot and humid with a chance for showers and thunderstorms, mainly early and again later in the day. High temperatures will be in the lower 90s, with heat index values in the upper 90s to around 100. After a cold front passes, Sunday will be partly sunny, breezy, and very warm, but it will turn less humid with high temperatures in the middle 80s.

NOTES:
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect until 9 AM for parts of south-central and southeastern Wisconsin, including the counties of MARQUETTE, GREEN LAKE, SAUK, COLUMBIA, DODGE, DANE, and JEFFERSON (this includes the Madison metropolitan area).

A HEAT ADVISORY is in effect until 8 PM for north-central and northeastern Illinois, including the counties of WINNEBAGO, BOONE, and McHENRY (this includes the Rockford and Chicago metropolitan areas).

A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued from noon until 8 PM for south-central, and southeastern Wisconsin, including the counties of: MARQUETTE, GREEN LAKE, SAUK, COLUMBIA, DODGE, IOWA, DANE, JEFFERSON, LAFAYETTE, GREEN, ROCK, and WALWORTH (this includes the Madison and Milwaukee metropolitan areas).

A HEAT ADVISORY has been issued from 10 AM until 8 PM for extreme eastern Iowa, and northwestern Illinois. In Iowa, this includes the county of DUBUQUE. In Illinois, this includes the counties of JO DAVIESS and STEPHENSON.

The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK for a few severe thunderstorms for today and tonight over extreme southeastern Minnesota, the southeastern two-thirds of Iowa, the northern third of northern Illinois, and the southeastern two-thirds of Wisconsin (south and east of a line from Rochester, MN to Medford to Iron River, MI). There is a MARGINAL RISK for isolated severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southeastern third of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, the rest of the northern two-thirds of Illinois, and the rest of Wisconsin.

Early morning thunderstorms across Wisconsin may produce isolated severe thunderstorms with high winds, hail, and heavy rain before weakening. An outflow boundary between the rain cooled air and areas that received little or no rain early in the morning will develop over southern or central Wisconsin. As skies clear later in the morning and remain partly sunny in the afternoon, very warm to hot and very humid air will be in place across much of the upper Midwest during the day on Saturday.

A low pressure system will move north of Lakes Superior on Saturday, allowing a cold front to move from Minnesota and northern Iowa into Wisconsin late in the day, moving through most of the state tonight. Thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the cold front, and a few thunderstorms may become severe. In addition, if the outflow boundary is still present, a few severe thunderstorms may develop along it as well. High winds, hail, and heavy rain are the main threats, although isolated tornadoes may be possible where thunderstorms initially develop on Saturday afternoon or early Saturday evening, especially if the outflow boundary intersects the cold front. Eventually, a line of thunderstorms may develop along the cold front, pushing into northern Illinois overnight, where high winds will become the primary threat. The threat for severe weather should end with the passage of the cold front later Saturday night.
