NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a MARGINAL RISK for isolated severe thunderstorms for Saturday and Saturday night across southern and western Minnesota, all of Iowa, the northern half of Illinois, and far western and southwestern Wisconsin (southwest of a Twin Cities to Tomah to Beloit line). A warm front will head northward toward Wisconsin on Saturday with very warm and humid air to its south. Thunderstorms will develop in clusters near the front on Saturday afternoon. An isolated severe thunderstorm with high winds may be possible. In addition, thunderstorms in the Dakotas and Minnesota on Saturday afternoon will move eastward into western Wisconsin and Illinois on Saturday night. These thunderstorms may produce heavy rain, with a low threat for high winds as well.
There is an ENHANCED RISK for a few severe thunderstorms, along with isolated intense severe thunderstorms on Sunday and Sunday night for southeastern Minnesota, extreme northeastern Iowa, and west-central Wisconsin (west of a Twin Cities to Marshfield to Tomah to Prairie du Chien line). There is a SLIGHT RISK for a few severe thunderstorms over the rest of central and southeastern Minnesota, the northeastern third of Iowa, much of Illinois (except for the extreme southwest and northeastern part), and the rest of the southwestern third of Wisconsin (west and south of a line from Hayward to Steven Point to Lake Geneva). There is a MARGINAL RISK for isolated severe thunderstorms for the rest of Minnesota (except the northeastern Arrowhead region), the rest of the northeastern two-thirds of Iowa, the rest of Illinois, and the rest of Wisconsin, except for the far northeast (the severe weather threat area is south of a Superior to Wausau to Green Bay line). More thunderstorms are likely along the warm front as it pushes into Wisconsin. The position of the front early in the day may be determined by overnight thunderstorms. A little more wind shear will mean a slightly higher threat for severe thunderstorms near the warm front on Sunday afternoon. In addition, a cluster of severe thunderstorms may develop in Minnesota and move toward southern Wisconsin Sunday night. High winds, hail, and heavy rainfall are the main threats. In addition, there may be the threat for widespread damaging winds if an intense cluster of severe thunderstorms develops in central Minnesota late Sunday afternoon or early Sunday night. This cluster of thunderstorms may move southeastward into northeastern Iowa and western Wisconsin before weakening later Sunday night.
There is an ENHANCED RISK for a few severe thunderstorms along with isolated intense severe thunderstorms for Monday and Monday night for eastern Iowa and much of Illinois (except for the extreme northeastern and southwestern part). There is a SLIGHT RISK for a few severe thunderstorms over the rest of the eastern third of Iowa, the rest of Illinois, and the southern quarter of Wisconsin (south of a La Crosse to Wisconsin Dells to Milwaukee line). There is a MARGINAL RISK for isolated severe thunderstorms for extreme southeastern Minnesota, the rest of the eastern two-thirds of Iowa, and the rest of the southern third of Wisconsin (south of a Rochester, MN to Black River Falls to Sheboygan line). Severe thunderstorms may be present in extreme southeastern Minnesota, eastern Iowa, southern Wisconsin, and northern Illinois early on Monday morning, with high winds, hail, and heavy rainfall as the main threats. As these storms weaken, they may leave an outflow boundary over the area. As clouds thin and very warm and humid conditions develop, additional severe thunderstorms may develop along this boundary during the afternoon, heading southeastward into eastern Iowa and northern Illinois by evening. High winds, hail, and heavy rainfall are the main threats. In addition, a few tornadoes may develop where afternoon severe thunderstorm development takes place, with an isolated strong tornado possible. Also, an intense cluster of severe thunderstorms may then form, resulting in widespread damaging winds as the storms move southeastward through eastern Iowa and northern Illinois. The ultimate severe weather threat areas for Monday may have to be shifted somewhat north or south, depending on Sunday's thunderstorm activity and the position of outflow boundaries on Monday.
