This afternoon will be partly sunny, hot and humid with highs near 90 and heat index values in the mid 90s. There is a slight chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm, mainly to the southeast of Madison. Tonight will be warm and muggy with lows near 70, another slight chance of isolated thundershowers and areas of fog developing.

Saturday will be partly sunny, hot, and humid with high temperatures in the lower 90s, with heat index values in the upper 90s to lower 100s. There is a chance of showers and thunderstorms early in the day as a line of storms from the west may pass through. Then more showers and thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon or evening, and some of those may be severe. Any lingering showers and thunderstorms should end by Sunday morning; otherwise, skies will become partly sunny on Sunday during the day. It still will be warm, but will turn less humid. High temperatures will be in the middle 80s.

Monday will be partly sunny and very warm with highs in the middle to upper 80s. Another weak cold front will move through from late Monday night into Tuesday that could generate a couple of showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, Tuesday will be partly sunny and warm with high temperatures remaining in the middle 80s. Wednesday will be partly sunny and warm with high temperatures in the middle 80s and a chance of showers and thunderstorms developing late in the day or overnight.

The end of the week will be more humid again. As a warm front moves through Wisconsin, Thursday will be variably cloudy, very warm and more humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s with heat index values in the low 90s. After the front passes, Friday will be partly sunny, hot and humid with highs in the lower 90s and heat index values in the middle to upper 90s. Saturday will also be partly sunny, hot and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, highs in the lower 90s and heat index values in the upper 90s.

NOTES:

The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK for a few severe thunderstorms Saturday and Saturday night over southeastern Minnesota, northeastern Iowa, and all of Wisconsin. Very warm to hot and quite humid air will be in place across much of the upper Midwest on Saturday. A low pressure system will move north of Lakes Superior on Saturday, allowing a cold front to enter Minnesota late in the day. As the cold front heads to the southeast Saturday night, thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of it. High winds, hail, and heavy rain are the main threats, although an isolated tornado may be possible where thunderstorms initially develop on Saturday afternoon or early Saturday evening. The threat for severe weather should end with the passage of the cold front later Saturday night.
