Erika has developed into a tropical storm in the central Atlantic about 955 miles east of the Leeward Islands, according to the Associated Press.

Tropical Storm Erika had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and is moving west at 20 mph. No watches or warnings are currently in effect.
