NOTES:
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect until 7 AM Saturday morning for northern Illinois, and parts of south-central and southeastern Wisconsin. In Illinois, this includes the counties of JO DAVIESS, STEPHENSON, WINNEBAGO, BOONE, and McHENRY (this includes the Rockford and Chicago metropolitan areas). In Wisconsin, this includes the counties of DANE, JEFFERSON, LAFAYETTE, GREEN, ROCK, and WALWORTH (this includes the Madison and Milwaukee metropolitan areas).
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK for severe thunderstorms on Friday and Friday night over southern Iowa and northwestern through west-central Illinois. There is a MARGINAL RISK for severe thunderstorms over the rest of the southern half of Iowa, the rest of the northern two-thirds of Illinois, and extreme southern Wisconsin (south of a Prairie du Chien to Stoughton to Sheboygan line).
A wave of low pressure will move northeastward on a stationary front over southern Iowa and northern Illinois tonight. This may lead to severe thunderstorms developing in southern Iowa, moving northeastward into Illinois this evening. High winds, hail, and heavy rainfall are possible with the strongest thunderstorms, although an isolated tornado may be possible in the milder air south of the low pressure system from southern Iowa into west-central Illinois. Any threat for severe weather should end overnight as cooler air surges southward as the low pressure system moves eastward into Michigan by early Saturday morning.
