NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK for severe thunderstorms today and tonight across southeastern Minnesota, central and eastern Iowa, and most of Wisconsin (south and west of a line from Hayward to Shawno to Madison to Monroe). There is a MARGINAL RISK for severe thunderstorms for most of the rest of Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin along with northwestern Illinois.
Unseasonably warm air along with increasing humidity will be found over the upper Midwest today. An advancing cold front moving through Minnesota will move into Iowa and Wisconsin in the afternoon, reaching southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois later tonight. Thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the cold front. Rather strong wind fields at all levels of the atmosphere mean that a few severe thunderstorms are possible, with hail and high winds being the main threats, although an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out. The severe weather threat will diminish with the loss of heating later tonight, and should end with the passage of the cold front early Friday morning.
