Today will be mostly cloudy, windy, and unseasonably mild again, with a chance for showers and thunderstorms late in the day as a low pressure system and cold front approach Wisconsin. High temperatures will be in the upper 60s, close to the record high temperature for Madison which is 71 degrees set in 2008.

Showers are likely tonight as the cold front moves through Wisconsin; a few thunderstorms are possible this evening. The entire weather system will move east of Wisconsin on Friday with any showers ending early. Gusty winds will bring much colder air into Wisconsin and skies will turn partly sunny in the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 50 degrees early in the day, then temperatures will hold steady or slowly fall into the 40s in the afternoon.

High pressure will build across Wisconsin for the weekend with dry weather expected. Skies will be partly sunny on Saturday with high temperatures reaching the upper 40s. Sunday will be mostly sunny and breezy as the high pressure system heads to the east. High temperatures will return to the middle 50s.

Monday and Tuesday will be partly sunny, breezy, and mild with high temperatures in the middle to upper 50s.

A developing storm system will approach Wisconsin from Tuesday night into Wednesday. Skies will become mostly cloudy and showers will develop; a few thunderstorms are possible on Wednesday as well. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s.

NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a MARGINAL RISK for severe thunderstorms for eastern Minnesota, almost all of Iowa, western Illinois, and the western half of Wisconsin (west and south of a Hayward to Oshkosh to Janesville line). Unseasonably mild and somewhat humid air will cover the Midwest ahead of an approaching low pressure system and cold front. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop along and just ahead of the front as it moves from Minnesota and Iowa into Wisconsin and Illinois tonight. Very strong wind fields and some wind shear may lead to isolated severe thunderstorms. The main threats will be high winds and hail, although an isolated brief tornado cannot be ruled out. The severe weather threat will diminish after sunset, and end with the passage of the cold front.
