This afternoon will be variably cloudy, windy, and unseasonably mild again with showers and thunderstorms developing this evening and overnight as a low pressure system and cold front move into Wisconsin. High temperatures will be near 70 again, close to the record high temperature for Madison, which is 71 degrees set in 2008. There is a very slight chance that a few thunderstorms may become severe in the vicinity of the front, but any chance will end as soon as the front passes. Lows will be near 50 tomorrow morning.
On Friday, gusty winds will bring much colder air into Wisconsin and skies will become partly sunny. High temperatures will be in the low 50s early in the day, then temperatures will hold steady or slowly fall into the 40s in the afternoon.
High pressure will build across Wisconsin for the weekend with dry weather expected. Skies will be partly sunny on Saturday with high temperatures reaching the upper 40s. Sunday will be mostly sunny and breezy as the high pressure system heads to the east. High temperatures will return to the middle 50s.
Monday and Tuesday will be partly sunny, breezy, and mild with high temperatures near 60.
The next storm system will move into Wisconsin on Wednesday, but the timing is very unsettled at this point. It will become windy as the system moves in and showers will develop, but Wednesday will still be mild with highs in the upper 50s. The system will push through the area Wednesday night and Thursday, continuing chances of showers and windy conditions. Highs on Thursday will drop into the upper 40s.

NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a MARGINAL RISK for severe thunderstorms for southeastern Minnesota, the eastern half of Iowa, Illinois, and southern Wisconsin (south of an Eau Claire to Green Bay line). Unseasonably mild and somewhat humid air will cover the Midwest ahead of an approaching low pressure system and cold front. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop along and just ahead of the front as it moves from Minnesota and Iowa into Wisconsin and Illinois tonight. Very strong wind fields and some wind shear may lead to isolated severe thunderstorms. The main threats will be high winds and possible hail. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front.
