The mild weather continues today. Skies will be partly sunny today and it will be very mild with high temperatures near 50 degrees. Areas of fog, patchy drizzle, and scattered light showers will develop tonight. It will stay very mild with lows in the lower 40s.
A strong storm system will affect Wisconsin over the weekend. Saturday will be mostly cloudy and very mild again with a chance for a few showers ahead of the system. High temperatures will rise back into the middle 50s, near or above Madison's record high temperature of 53 degrees set in 1991. Showers will become likely from Saturday night through Sunday, and a few thunderstorms are possible as well. Sunday will be mostly cloudy, breezy and unseasonably mild again with high temperatures in the upper 50s. The record high temperature of 57 set in 1975 is in jeopardy as well.
Unsettled weather will linger into Monday with mostly cloudy skies, windy conditions and a chance for rain showers. High temperatures will drop back into the middle 40s, with temperatures holding steady or slowly falling into the 30s in the afternoon.
Tuesday will be variably cloudy, becoming breezy, and still mild with high temperatures in the middle 40s again. As a cold front moves through on Tuesday night and a strong area of low pressure passes to our north, Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, breezy, and colder with a chance of a few flurries; high temperatures will drop back to the upper 30s with slowly falling afternoon temperatures.
More typical December weather will move in for a few days later next week with variably cloudy skies and high temperatures near 30 degrees on Thursday, a chance for flurries Thursday night, and partly sunny skies with high temperatures in the upper 20s on Friday.
