A strong storm system will affect Wisconsin today and Monday, driving temperatures to near or above record high temperature marks.
Sunday will be cloudy, windy and unseasonably mild again with showers and isolated thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. The record high temperature of 57 set in 1975 and the record rainfall amount of 1.09" set in 1928 are in jeopardy.
Unsettled weather will linger into Monday with mostly cloudy skies, windy conditions and scattered rain showers. Temperatures will stay in the upper 40s Sunday night, breaking another warmest low record for Madison. Highs will be near 50 early on Monday, before temperatures slowly fall Monday afternoon.
Tuesday will be variably cloudy and still mild with high temperatures in the middle to upper 40s. As a cold front moves into the area on Tuesday night and a strong area of low pressure passes to our north, Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, breezy, and a little colder with a chance of a few rain/snow showers; high temperatures will drop back to the lower 40s with slowly falling afternoon temperatures.
More typical December weather will move in for a few days later next week. Thursday will be variably cloudy and breezy with highs near 30. A chance of a few flurries will develop for Thursday night and Friday, and Friday will remain variably cloudy, breezy and cold with highs in the mid 20s.
Next weekend will start cool with partly sunny skies and highs near 30 Saturday, the stronger winds will kick in on Sunday, leading to partly sunny skies and highs back near 40.
