Skies will be variably cloudy tonight with a slight chance of drizzle or flurries, mainly to the north of Madison. Temperatures will hold steady near 30 or rise slightly overnight.

Above normal temperatures are expected for the weekend. Skies will be partly sunny on Saturday with high temperatures in the lower 40s. Clouds will increase Saturday night with a chance of drizzle or flurries developing late at night. Sunday will be mostly cloudy and mild with scattered light rain showers, which will mix with and change to light snow late in the day or overnight. Highs will be near 40, but temperatures may fall late in the day.

The unsettled pattern continues next week. Monday will be variably cloudy and a little colder with highs in the lower to middle 30s. On Tuesday, a major winter storm will move into the area, but the timing and placement are uncertain. It will be windy with rain possibly mixing with snow briefly early in the day, then becoming all snow. Once the snow starts, accumulation is likely through Tuesday night. The amounts are far from certain at the moment, but the possibility exists for high snow totals with this storm.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, windy, and much colder with snow tapering to flurries. Temperatures will start in the middle 20s before falling through the day.

Thursday will be partly sunny with a slight chance of flurries and it will be quite cold with highs in the upper teens. Friday will be partly sunny and continued cold with highs near 20.
