Tonight will be mostly cloudy with areas of fog, some of which may be dense. Rain showers will change to snow showers and diminish to flurries overnight. Temperatures will fall to the middle 30s by late evening; overnight low temperatures will fall to the upper 20s by morning.

Colder weather will return for the weekend. Saturday will be mostly cloudy, and it will become windy and turn colder with high temperatures near 30 degrees occurring in the morning, and temperatures falling through the 20s in the afternoon. Light snow is possible late in the day into the evening, mainly east of Madison.

Any snow will end Saturday night, as skies become partly cloudy. It will be windy and much colder with low temperatures falling into the middle single digits, while wind chills drop to near -15 by Sunday morning. Sunday will be partly sunny, windy, and colder. High temperatures will only reach the middle teens.

The coldest air of the winter will continue to affect southern Wisconsin through the middle of next week. Low temperatures on Monday morning will fall into the lower single digits, and wind chills could drop to -5 to -20. Monday will be partly sunny, breezy, and quite cold with high temperatures in the middle teens. A weak weather disturbance could bring some snow showers and flurries on Monday night, ending early on Tuesday morning, before skies become partly sunny. Tuesday will be breezy and very cold, as temperatures start around 10 degrees, with wind chills as cold as 0 to -10. High temperatures will be in the middle teens.

Wednesday will be another very cold day with partly sunny skies and breezy winds. Temperatures will start near zero with wind chills as cold as -5 to -20 in the morning. High temperatures will only reach the lower teens. A chance for flurries will develop Wednesday night, coming to an end early on Thursday. The rest of Thursday will become partly sunny and not as cold with high temperatures in the upper teens. Friday will be variably cloudy and not as cold with a chance for flurries. High temperatures will return to the middle 20s.

Colder weather returns for next weekend. Saturday will be variably cloudy, breezy, and colder with a chance for flurries; high temperatures will be in the middle teens. Sunday will be partly sunny, breezy, and very cold. Low temperatures will be near zero, with wind chills as cold as -20; high temperatures will only reach the middle teens.

In Wisconsin, this includes the counties of MARQUETTE, GREEN LAKE, VERNON, RICHLAND, SAUK, COLUMBIA, IOWA, DANE, LAFAYETTE, GREEN, and ROCK (this includes the Madison metropolitan area).

A DENSE FOG ADVISORY is in effect until 3 AM early Saturday morning for north-central and northeastern Illinois, and southeastern Wisconsin. In Illinois, this includes the counties of WINNEBAGO, BOONE, and McHENRY (this includes the Rockford and Chicago metropolitan areas). In Wisconsin, this includes the counties of: DODGE, JEFFERSON, and WALWORTH (this includes the Milwaukee metropolitan area).
