Today will be mostly cloudy and mild with scattered light rain showers, which may briefly mix with snow late in the day before ending in the evening. Highs will be near 40.

The unsettled pattern continues next week. Monday will be partly sunny and pleasant with highs in the middle 30s. On Tuesday, a major winter storm will move into the area. It will be windy and the current track of the storm will bring snow to the area initially before mixing with or changing over to rain for areas southeast of Madison for part of the day, then changing back over to snow. Highs will be in the mid 30s, but cooler to the northwest. Areas northwest of Madison would see snow all day and end up with the highest snowfall amounts. The track of the storm could still shift over the next two days, but it will likely stay fairly close to where it is currently. Snow amounts will likely be 3-6" in the Madison area, with lower amounts to the southeast and higher amounts up to a foot to the northwest.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, windy, and colder with light snow ending. Temperatures will start in the middle 20s before falling through the day.

Thursday and Friday will be partly sunny and colder with highs near 20. There is another chance of snow showers next Saturday with highs remaining near 20. Sunday will be partly sunny and not as cold with highs in the upper 20s.
