An area of low pressure will continue to slowly head toward Wisconsin from the southwest this afternoon. It will be cloudy this afternoon with areas of fog, drizzle, and light rain showers. The rain may be mixed with snow and sleet north of Dane County in areas where temperatures are closer to the freezing mark. Temperatures will climb to the middle 30s for the rest of the area. Light rain and areas of fog will persist tonight, but may mix with snow and sleet north of Dane County. Temperatures will fall into the lower 30s by early Friday. Friday will be mostly cloudy with any mixed precipitation changing to rain showers. Areas of fog will remain possible. Highs will reach the upper 30s. Rain showers will change to light snow or flurries on Friday night as temperatures fall below freezing.
Colder weather will return for the weekend. Saturday will be mostly cloudy and turning windy and colder in the afternoon with snow showers and flurries. High temperatures will reach the lower 30s in the morning before temperatures fall back through the 20s in the afternoon. Sunday will be variably cloudy, windy, and colder with a chance for flurries. High temperatures will only reach the lower to middle teens.
The coldest air of the winter will continue to affect southern Wisconsin through the middle of next week. Low temperatures on Monday morning may fall into the single digits below zero, and wind chills could drop to -5 to -20. Monday will be partly sunny, breezy, and quite cold with high temperatures in the lower teens. Tuesday will be continued very cold with temperatures starting in the single digits, and wind chills as cold as -5 to -20. The rest of Tuesday will be variably cloudy and breezy with a chance for snow showers and flurries. High temperatures will reach the lower teens. Wednesday will be another very cold day with partly sunny skies and breezy winds. Temperatures will start near zero with wind chills as cold as -5 to -20 in the morning. High temperatures will only reach the lower teens.
