Areas of fog early today and temperatures near the freezing point may cause some slippery spots on roads and sidewalks early this morning. An increase in the clouds is expected today with highs reaching the middle to upper 30s. Snow will begin to spread into the area overnight as a major winter storm moves into the area. Lows will fall to the upper 20s.
The current track of the storm looks like it will bring heavy snow to parts of Wisconsin. Snow is expected for most of southern Wisconsin early Tuesday morning. By the mid to late morning, snow will mix with or change to rain and sleet, mainly in area south and east of Madison. Areas to the north and west of Madison may continue to see all snow. Later Tuesday afternoon, areas seeing a mix of precipitation will transition back to all snow with additional snow accumulations expected. Highs will reach the lower to middle 30s, but colder temperatures are expected to the northwest of Madison. Areas northwest of Madison may see snow all day and end up with the highest snowfall amounts. Snow amounts are expected to be 2-6" south and east of Madison, with higher amounts up to a foot to the northwest. The track of the storm could still shift, adjusting those forecast snow totals. Stay tuned!
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, windy, and colder with light snow ending. Temperatures will start in the middle 20s before falling through the day.
Thursday will be partly sunny and colder with highs in the lower 20s. There is a chance for light snow Friday afternoon and again on Saturday. Friday's temperatures will reach the upper 20s. Saturday will be a little colder again with highs in the middle 20s. Sunday will be partly sunny and colder with highs in the upper teens.
