Skies will be variably cloudy this afternoon with areas of fog possible, especially in counties along with Wisconsin/Illinois state line. Highs will reach the middle 30s. Tonight will become mostly cloudy with a chance for a few flurries or patchy light snow showers toward daybreak Tuesday. Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s.
The most recent computer models show the storm for Tuesday and Wednesday tracking farther north, and being drier. Snow, mixed with rain and sleet will develop Tuesday, and become widespread late in the morning and into the afternoon. Areas well northwest of Madison may continue to see all snow through the day. Later Tuesday afternoon and evening, areas seeing a mix of precipitation will transition to all snow. Highs will reach the middle to upper 30s, but colder temperatures are expected well to the northwest of Madison. Areas well northwest of Madison may see snow all day and end up with the highest snowfall amounts. Snow amounts are expected to be 1-4" south and east of Madison, with higher amounts to the northwest. The track of the storm could still shift, adjusting those forecast snow totals. Stay tuned!
Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, windy, and colder with light snow ending. Temperatures will start in the middle 20s before falling through the day.
Thursday will be partly sunny and colder with highs in the lower 20s. There is a chance for light snow Friday afternoon and again on Saturday. Friday's temperatures will reach the upper 20s. Saturday's highs will be in the upper 20s. Sunday will be partly sunny with highs in the middle 20s.
