This afternoon will be mostly sunny and continued very cold. High temperatures will reach the upper teens. Skies will become mostly cloudy tonight as a low pressure system passes southwest of Wisconsin. Scattered flurries will be possible, mainly SW of Dane county, and lows will be in the upper single digits. After the system passes, skies will become partly sunny Friday, and it will be breezy and turning colder. High temperatures will reach the upper teens on Friday morning, but will begin to fall in the afternoon.
Another shot of bitterly cold air will arrive from Friday night into Saturday. Low temperatures on Saturday morning will drop to the middle single digits below zero while wind chills drop to as cold as -15 to -25. Saturday will be mostly sunny and bitterly cold with high temperatures only topping out near or just above 10 degrees.
After low temperatures fall to around zero very early Sunday morning, temperatures will begin to rise. Sunday will be mostly cloudy and breezy with scattered snow showers and flurries. High temperatures will return to near 20 degrees. Minor snowfall accumulation is possible through Sunday night.
Next week, temperatures will begin to moderate. Monday will be mostly cloudy and not as cold with a few flurries and high temperatures in the upper 20s. Tuesday will be variably cloudy and seasonably cold with snow showers developing late in the day. High temperatures will be around 30 degrees. Snow showers will continue Tuesday night before ending early on Wednesday. Skies will clear during the day on Wednesday and highs will drop back into the mid 20s.
The end of next week looks much milder. Thursday will be partly sunny and breezy with highs jumping back into the upper 30s. Friday will be variably cloudy, breezy and mild with a chance of a few rain showers and highs rising into the mid 40s.
