Skies will be mostly sunny this afternoon, but it will remain bitterly cold. High temperatures will only climb to the lower teens.

Skies will become increasingly cloudy tonight, and it will be very cold. Light snow will develop west of Madison overnight. Temperatures will fall to near zero this evening before holding nearly steady or slowly rising overnight.

Sunday will be mostly cloudy, breezy, and not as cold, with occasional light snow. High temperatures will be around 20 degrees. Snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are likely through Sunday evening, with the heaviest amounts in far southwestern Wisconsin.

Next week, temperatures will begin to moderate. Monday will be mostly cloudy and not as cold with a chance of flurries, mainly early in the day, and high temperatures near 30. Tuesday will be mostly cloudy and seasonably cold with a chance of snow showers and flurries. High temperatures will be around 30 degrees again. Skies will become partly sunny on Wednesday and it will turn a little colder as high temperatures drop back to the middle 20s.

Milder weather is expected for the end of next week. Thursday will be variably cloudy, windy and milder with a chance of flurries, drizzle and freezing drizzle late in the day and at night. High temperatures will be in the middle 30s. Friday will be mostly cloudy, windy, and quite mild with a chance of rain showers. High temperatures will reach the middle 40s.

Over the weekend, Saturday will be mostly cloudy, windy, and colder with a chance of rain/snow showers early and high temperatures dropping back into the middle 30s. Sunday will be variably cloudy and seasonably cold with high temperatures in the lower 30s.
