NOTES:
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect until 10 PM for --- for north-central, northeastern, and part of northwestern Illinois, and east-central, southeastern, and part of south-central Wisconsin. In Illinois, this includes the counties of STEPHENSON, WINNEBAGO, BOONE, and McHENRY (this includes the Rockford and Chicago metropolitan areas). In Wisconsin, this includes the counties of MARQUETTE, GREEN LAKE, COLUMBIA, DODGE, DANE, JEFFERSON, GREEN, ROCK, and WALWORTH (this includes the Madison and Milwaukee metropolitan areas).
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for tonight for much of northern Illinois, and south-central and southeastern Wisconsin east and south of a line from Monroe to Portage to Fond du Lac). There is also a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for tonight for far northwestern Illinois, and the rest of southern Wisconsin (east and south of a Dubuque, IA to Stevens Point to Green Bay line). As a low pressure system moves from South Dakota into Wisconsin and a cold front moves through Iowa into southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois, mild and somewhat humid air will be unstable enough to allow isolated severe thunderstorms to develop, with hail and gusty winds being the main threats, although an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front later this evening.
