TOWN OF FULTON, Wis. -- A Beloit man died in a two-car, head-on crash Sunday afternoon, Rock County deputies said.
According to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened on Highway 59 near Harbor Drive, which is located near Edgerton in the Town of Fulton.
Deputies, along with Edgerton police and Milton firefighters, responded to the crash at 12:48 p.m.
Deputies said George Dudley Davis, 26, of Beloit, was driving west on Highway 59 in an SUV with a passenger, Paul M. Shamp, 26, of Janesville. Based on witness statements and evidence, investigators determined Davis crossed into oncoming eastbound traffic and hit a minivan driven by Megan E. Haney, 38, of Milton.
Officials said firefighters arrived at the crash site soon after to extricate both drivers.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene by the Rock County Medical Examiner's Office. Medics took Haney to UW Hospital by helicopter in critical condition and Shamp was taken to Mercy Hospital in Janesville with serious injuries.
According to the release, all involved were wearing seat belts.
