Tonight will be variably cloudy, mild, and muggy with patchy fog overnight. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop, with a few severe thunderstorms possible with hail, high winds, and heavy rainfall. Temperatures will only fall to around 80 degrees by late evening; overnight low temperatures will be in the lower 70s.

Any showers and thunderstorms should end early on Saturday. Skies will become partly sunny, and it will be hot and humid with high temperatures around 90 degrees. heat index values will be between 90 and 95 degrees. There is a chance for additional shower and thunderstorm development in the afternoon as a cold front moves through southern Wisconsin. The cold front will move south of Wisconsin by Saturday night ending any chances for rain, and lowering the humidity and the temperatures. Skies will be partly sunny on Sunday, and it will be cooler and less humid with high temperatures in the upper 70s.

Monday will be variably cloudy and warm with high temperatures in the lower 80s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop on Monday, mainly in the afternoon and at night as low pressure approaches Wisconsin from the west. Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly cloudy, warm and humid with scattered showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures for both days will reach the lower 80s.

The chances of showers and thunderstorms will be a bit less on Thursday as the slow-moving storm system begins to head to the east. High temperatures will be near 80 degrees. As a high pressure system returns on Friday, skies will become partly sunny. It will be breezy and not as humid with high temperatures in the upper 70s.

NOTES:
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is in effect until 9 PM for extreme northeastern Iowa, and west-central and parts of southwestern Wisconsin until 9 PM. In Iowa, this includes the county of ALLAMAKEE. In Wisconsin, this includes the counties of MONROE, JUNEAU, ADAMS, VERNON, RICHLAND, and CRAWFORD (this includes the La Crosse metropolitan area).

The Storm Prediction Center says that there is an ENHANCED RISK of severe thunderstorms for tonight for east-central Minnesota and much of the northern third of Wisconsin (west of a Superior to Antigo to Appleton to Wisconsin Rapids to Minneapolis line). There is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for tonight for the rest of eastern and central Minnesota, extreme northeastern Iowa, and much of the rest of Wisconsin (north of a Darlington to Milwaukee line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southeastern two-thirds of Minnesota, the rest of the northern half of Iowa, extreme northern Illinois, and the rest of Wisconsin. A warm front will be through northern Wisconsin, and a cold front will be moving eastward through Minnesota. As an upper air disturbance moves from Minnesota to Wisconsin, severe thunderstorms will develop from central Minnesota into northwestern Wisconsin, moving to the southeast through the rest of southern Minnesota and Wisconsin overnight. High winds and hail will be the main threats, although the threat for an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, especially near the front in central Minnesota and northern Wisconsin during Friday evening. The thunderstorms may weaken or dissipate as they move into southern Wisconsin overnight.

There is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for Saturday and Saturday night for east-central Iowa, the northern quarter of Illinois, and the southern quarter of Wisconsin (south of a Prairie du Chien to Portage to Port Washington line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the eastern half of Iowa, the rest of the northern half of Illinois, and the rest of the southern third of Wisconsin (south of a La Crosse to Manitowoc line). If they don't dissipate overnight late Friday night, a few severe thunderstorms could move through southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois early on Saturday morning, with high winds and hail the main threats. As a cold front moves southward through Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon, a few severe thunderstorms may develop along and ahead of the front on Saturday afternoon, with hail and high winds the main threats. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front by early Saturday evening.
