Sunday will be variably cloudy, breezy, very warm, and humid day with scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the morning. High temperatures will again reach the upper 80s, with heat index values in the lower to the middle 90s.

NOTES:
A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect until 1 AM early Thursday morning for north-central and northeastern Illinois, including the counties of WINNEBAGO, BOONE, and McHENRY (this includes the Rockford and Chicago metropolitan areas).

The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a MODERATE RISK of severe thunderstorms for tonight across much of the northeastern third of Illinois and for far southwestern Wisconsin (south and west of a Platteville to Dodgeville to Janesville line). There is an ENHANCED RISK of severe thunderstorms for east-central Iowa, the rest of the northeastern half of Illinois, and the rest of extreme southern Wisconsin (south of a Prairie du Chien to Madison to Milwaukee line); a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for southeastern Minnesota, the rest of the northeastern half of Iowa, the rest of the northeastern two-thirds of Illinois, and the rest of the southern third of Wisconsin (south of a Minneapolis, MN to Portage to Sheboygan line); a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southern half of Minnesota, the rest of the northeastern two-thirds Iowa, the rest of Illinois, and rest of the southwestern two-thirds of Wisconsin (south of a Rice Lake to Green Bay line). A significant severe weather outbreak is possible tonight over the central Midwest. Hot and humid air south of a warm front from central Iowa into northern Illinois will be overrun by drier air from the southwest along a cold front advancing through Iowa into Illinois. This will occur as a low pressure system moves along or just south of the Wisconsin/Illinois state line. A strong upper air disturbance will move from northern Minnesota into southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois this evening. Severe thunderstorms will rapidly develop near the warm and cold fronts, with hail, damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and tornadoes all possible. An isolated strong tornado and very large hail larger than 2 inches in diameter are possible from eastern Iowa into northwestern Illinois where severe thunderstorms initially develop. Widespread wind damage with winds perhaps exceeding 75 MPH is possible with the thunderstorms as they move through the rest of northern and northeastern Illinois ahead of the cold front by this evening. In addition, a few severe thunderstorms may develop over Wisconsin as the upper air disturbance moves through this evening. Hail, high winds, and perhaps an isolated tornado are the main threats in Wisconsin. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front tonight.
