The Storm Prediction Center says that there is an ENHANCED RISK of severe thunderstorms for Saturday and Saturday night for east-central Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin (north and west of a Minneapolis, MN to Ladysmith to Hurley line. There is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms across the rest of Minnesota, the northwestern third of Iowa, and the rest of the northwestern half of Wisconsin (west of and Iron Mountain MI to Antigo to La Crosse line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of Iowa, extreme northwestern Illinois, and the rest of Wisconsin. A very warm to hot and humid air mass will cover much of the Midwest on Saturday. A cold front moving through western Minnesota and northwestern Iowa will cause thunderstorms to develop along and ahead of it on Saturday. Some thunderstorms may be severe, with hail, high winds, and heavy rainfall as the main threats. A few tornadoes are possible where thunderstorms first develop, mainly in eastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. The thunderstorms should weaken a little as the push through Iowa into Wisconsin and northwestern Illinois later Saturday night; however, isolated severe thunderstorms with hail, high winds, and heavy rainfall may continue into the early morning hours on Sunday.
