NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for tonight for the southern third of Minnesota and the northwestern three-quarters of Iowa. There is a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southern half of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, and western and central Wisconsin (west of a line from Hayward to Rhinelander to Oshkosh to Dubuque, IA). A warm front will lift into central Wisconsin tonight as a cold front moves through Minnesota into northern Iowa. Warm and a little more humid air will follow the passage of the warm front. As the cold front pushes into the warm air, thunderstorms will develop in Minnesota and Iowa, with a few severe thunderstorms possible, especially from southern Minnesota into western Iowa. Hail, high winds, and isolated tornadoes are possible in this area. The thunderstorms will weaken slowly after sunset as the cold front pushes into Wisconsin, but isolated severe thunderstorms may be possible through the evening into parts of central and western Wisconsin where hail and high winds will be the main threats.

There is a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for Saturday and Saturday night for extreme eastern Iowa, extreme northern Illinois, and all but far northwest Wisconsin (the threat area is southeast of a Hurley to Alma line). As a cold front pushes through Wisconsin and northern Illinois, scattered thunderstorms are likely along and ahead of the front. Weak to moderate instability may result in isolated severe thunderstorms, with hail and gusty winds the main threat. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front by Saturday evening.
