NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for today and tonight for much of the southern two-thirds on Minnesota, extreme northeastern Iowa, and much of Wisconsin (west of a Superior to Green Bay line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of Minnesota, the rest of the northeastern quarter of Iowa, extreme northeastern Illinois, and the rest of Wisconsin. A warm front will move into northern Wisconsin by late this afternoon, with scattered thunderstorms along and ahead of it; hail would be the main threats from these thunderstorms. The front will then begin dropping slowly southward as a cold front to night as an upper air disturbance moves from Minnesota to Wisconsin later tonight. Severe thunderstorms should develop from northwestern Minnesota into northwestern Wisconsin, moving to the southeast to night through the rest of Minnesota and Wisconsin. High winds and hail will be the main threats although the threat for an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, especially near the front in central Minnesota and northern Wisconsin this evening.
There is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for Saturday and Saturday night for east-central Iowa, the northern quarter of Illinois, and the southern quarter of Wisconsin (south of a Prairie du Chien to Portage to Port Washington line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the eastern half of Iowa, the rest of the northern half of Illinois, and the rest of the southern third of Wisconsin (south of a La Crosse to Manitowoc line). A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will move through southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois early on Saturday morning, with high winds and hail the main threats. A few strong to severe thunderstorms may develop over the same area Saturday afternoon ahead of a cold front, with hail and high winds the main threats. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front by early Saturday evening.
