NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for Saturday and Saturday night for the southern half of Minnesota and the northwestern half of Iowa, and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southwestern three-quarters of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, and much of the western half of Wisconsin (west of a Superior to Minocqua to Stevens Point to Darlington line). Warm and humid air will move into western Iowa and southwestern Minnesota along and near an approaching warm front and storm system. As the storm system moves through South Dakota, severe thunderstorms should develop by late afternoon in South Dakota, western Minnesota, and perhaps into northwestern Iowa. A line of thunderstorm s may them develop, moving eastward through Minnesota and Iowa on Saturday evening, reaching Wisconsin by later Saturday night before weakening. Hail, high winds, and heavy rainfall are the main threats, with isolated tornadoes possible where thunderstorm development initially takes place in Minnesota and Iowa. There is a possibility that an isolated severe thunderstorm may still be possible into western Wisconsin late Saturday night.
There is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for Sunday and Sunday night for extreme southeastern Minnesota, most of Iowa (except for the extreme northwest), extreme northern Illinois, and the southern third of Wisconsin (south of a Rochester, MN to Stevens Point to Green Bay line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southeastern half of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, the rest of the northern half of Illinois, and the rest of Wisconsin. Depending on how thunderstorms later Saturday night and affect the atmosphere, more thunderstorms will develop on Sunday in the vicinity of a warm front, and ahead of a cold front approaching from Minnesota and Iowa by Sunday night. A few severe thunderstorms are possible, with hail, high winds, and heavy rainfall as the main threats.
