NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for today for the southern half of Minnesota and the northwestern half of Iowa, and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southwestern three-quarters of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, and much of the western half of Wisconsin (west of a Superior to Minocqua to Stevens Point to Darlington line). Warm and humid air will move into western Iowa and southwestern Minnesota near an approaching warm front. Severe thunderstorms should develop by late afternoon in western Minnesota, and perhaps into northwestern Iowa. A line of thunderstorms may then develop, moving eastward through Minnesota and Iowa this evening, reaching Wisconsin by later tonight before weakening. Hail, high winds, and heavy rainfall are the main threats, with isolated tornadoes possible where thunderstorm development initially takes place in Minnesota and Iowa. There is a possibility that an isolated severe thunderstorm may still be possible into western Wisconsin overnight.
There is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms for Sunday and Sunday night for extreme southeastern Minnesota, most of Iowa (except for the extreme northwest), the northern half of Illinois, and the southeastern two-thirds of Wisconsin (southeast of a Rochester, MN to Medford to Eagle River line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southeastern third of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, the rest of Illinois, and the rest of Wisconsin. More thunderstorms will develop on Sunday in the vicinity of a warm front, and ahead of a cold front approaching from Minnesota and Iowa by Sunday night. A few severe thunderstorms are possible, with hail, high winds, and heavy rainfall as the main threats.
