A nearly stationary front is located just south of Wisconsin and may trigger an isolated shower or thunderstorm through early this evening. The rest of the night will be variably cloudy, mild and muggy with patchy fog. A chance of showers and thunderstorms will redevelop late at night. Temperatures will fall to the middle 70s by late evening. Overnight low temperatures will fall to the upper 60s by early Thursday morning.

Thursday will be variably cloudy, warm and humid with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms with high winds, hail and heavy rainfall are possible, mainly Thursday afternoon and evening. High temperatures will reach the lower to middle 80s. The threat for severe storms will come to an end later Thursday night with the passage of a cold front.

It will be variably cloudy, breezy, a little cooler and turning less humid on Friday. As an area of low pressure heads to the northeast, there will be a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly in areas north of Madison. High temperatures will be near 80 degrees.

Pleasant and dry weather will return for the weekend. Skies will be partly sunny for both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s on Saturday and in the lower to middle 80s on Sunday.

Monday will be partly sunny, very warm and humid with high temperatures in the upper 80s. Heat index values will climb back into the lower 90s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop very late on Monday night. Tuesday and Wednesday will be variably cloudy, breezy, very warm and humid with chances of showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s, with heat index values in the lower 90s.

NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms through tonight for extreme southwestern Wisconsin, southwestern Minnesota, much of Iowa, and the western third of Illinois, and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of the southern half of Minnesota, the rest of the western half of Illinois, and the southwestern quarter of Wisconsin (south of a Minneapolis, MN to Madison to Janesville line). Thunderstorms will develop by late Wednesday afternoon over South Dakota and Nebraska, moving eastward into Iowa and Minnesota, and eventually into Wisconsin and Illinois. High winds, hail, and heavy rainfall are the main threats.

There is an ENHANCED RISK of severe thunderstorms for Thursday and Thursday night for much of southern Minnesota, the eastern two-thirds of Iowa, much of northern Illinois, and far southwestern Wisconsin (south of a Steuben to Monroe line), a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms across the rest of the southern two-thirds of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, the rest of Illinois, and the rest of the southwestern half of Wisconsin (south of a Rice Lake to Sheboygan line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for much of the rest of Minnesota and the rest of the southwestern three-quarters of Wisconsin (southwest of an Ashland to Green Bay line). As a storm system moves through the Midwest, it will interact with a very warm to hot and humid air mass. Cloud cover from previous thunderstorm activity may keep Minnesota and Wisconsin a little cooler than Iowa and Illinois, so thunderstorm development is most likely along the boundary over Iowa between the cloud cooled air to the north and the hot and humid air that get sunshine to the south. These thunderstorms will move eastward into Wisconsin and Illinois on Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. High winds, hail, tornadoes, and heavy rainfall are all possible.
