An area of low pressure moving through the Midwest will bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to southern Wisconsin tonight. The thunderstorms will initially develop in southern Minnesota and Iowa and then head toward Wisconsin. Some of the storms may dissipate as they head toward Wisconsin, but for now, the Storm Prediction Center has southern Wisconsin in a Slight Risk area for severe weather. Tonight will be variably cloudy, mild, and muggy with areas of fog and a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will fall to the lower 70s by late evening; overnight low temperatures will fall to the upper 60s by morning.

Friday will be partly sunny and warm, but it will become breezy and less humid with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm. High temperatures will be in the lower to the middle 80s. Friday night will be partly cloudy and comfortable with lows in the upper 50s.

Pleasant and dry weather will return for the weekend. Skies will be partly sunny for both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s on Saturday and in the lower 80s on Sunday.

Monday will be partly sunny, turning breezy, very warm and humid with high temperatures in the upper 80s. Heat index values will climb back into the lower 90s. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will return on Monday night.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be variably cloudy, breezy, very warm, and humid with high temperatures in the upper 80s; heat index values will be in the lower to the middle 90s.

Thursday will also be very warm and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Skies will be in the partly sunny, and high temperatures will be in the upper 80s, while heat index values remain in the lower 90s. NOTES:
The Storm Prediction Center says there is an ENHANCED RISK of severe thunderstorms tonight for extreme southwestern Minnesota and the western third of Iowa, along with a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms across the rest of the southern three quarters of Minnesota, the rest of Iowa, all of Illinois, and the southwestern half of Wisconsin (southwest of a Cumberland to Oshkosh to Sheboygan line), and a MARGINAL RISK of severe thunderstorms for the rest of Minnesota (except for the far northeastern portion), and the rest of Wisconsin (except for the far northeastern portion of the state northeast of an Ashland to Park Falls to Marinette line). A low pressure system in southwestern Minnesota has a warm front stretching to its east through southern Wisconsin, and a cold front running from northwestern Iowa into eastern Nebraska. Although the atmosphere is very humid, cloud cover from this morning's thunderstorms has held temperatures down across Wisconsin. Thunderstorms are likely to develop near the low pressure system and move eastward ahead of the cold front. A few thunderstorms may develop in the warm and humid air south of the warm front in Minnesota and Wisconsin, but warm temperatures aloft may keep these thunderstorms isolated in coverage. The best chances for severe thunderstorms will be with the storms near the low pressure system near the warm and cold fronts. High winds, hail, and locally heavy rainfall are possible, while an isolated tornado may also be possible. These thunderstorms will move through Iowa and southern Minnesota into Wisconsin and Illinois after dark. The main threat will be from high winds from these storms later tonight. It is also possible that these storms could dissipate as they move eastward and miss southern Wisconsin altogether. The severe weather threat will end with the passage of the cold front later tonight.
